Youth Opportunities in the Community

4H
UW-Extension 4-H integrates research, education, and community-based partnerships, enabling youth to learn and practice skills to be productive citizens. It is really easy: Just call the Rusk County UW-Extension Office at 532-2151. We can answer any questions you might have about the program. There are clubs located all over the county. 4-H is a family program that can involve everyone. There are more than 80 different project areas that youth can participate in.
Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts
The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Rusk County is in the Blue Hills District.

F.A.S.T. (Flambeau Area Swim Team)
The Flambeau Area Swim Team is part of the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference, which is divided into two divisions: East and West. FAST consists of swimmers from Rusk, Chippewa, and Sawyer counties. The season typically runs from October through March. Swim meets are held Saturdays in November, December, and January.

FFA
FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
It develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education.

Girl Scouts
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Gymnastics & Ninja Warrior: Offering Hope & Wellness
Offering Hope & Wellness offers ninja warrior and gymnastics lessons weekly for ages 18 months to 12 years old. They are often looking for coaches, which is an opportunity for teens for employment.

Joe's Music & Sewing Center 
Joe's Music offers music lessons both individually and the opportunity for youth to be in the band. The band performs at area events.

Live To Dance: 

Power House
Power House is for students in 6-12 grades is held every Monday from 3:30-6pm at the old elementary school. There is a high school only night the third Friday of the month from 8-10pm. Power House provides a free meal nightly, tutoring on Monday nights, and activities throughout the night. The mission of the Power House is to provide the youth of the community with positive alternatives to negative behaviors in a safe, drug free environment surrounded by caring Christian adults.
